Lucky Lake reception is open from 9:00 to 23:00. Our staff is available to provide information about the hostel, tourist attractions in Amsterdam or just a friendly chat!
Free internet and Wi-Fi are available at reception. You are welcome to use one of our computers or your own device and stay in touch with family and friends around the world.
Our reception shop stocks basic food items, cold drinks and a generous selection of snack food. We provide free maps of the city, as well as brochures for de Zaanse Schans and de Keukenhof.
Free breakfast is available from 7:30 to 11:30 in our awesome breakfast bus. We offer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, yoghurt, muesli, cornflakes, bread, nutella, honey, creme cheese, peanut butter and jams. Depending on the day we provide all ingredients for you to make your own pancakes or eggs.
Lucky Lake has an outdoor, communal kitchen for the use of our guests. There are pots and pans, plates, cutlery, two stoves, three refrigerators, an oven and a BBQ (grill), which are all free to use. The kitchen is open between 9:00 and 23:00.
Lucky Lake reception has a selection of basic food items for sale. There is a small village called Abcoude nearby (15 minutes by bicycle) which has two supermarkets, grocery stores and an outdoor, fresh-food market on Thursday afternoons.
The Lucky Lounge is a cosy, relaxing place to chill out and meet other travellers.
We have a collection of games, a piano, a small fireplace and a speaker to connect your phone/MP3 player.
The atmosphere is ideal for a game of chess, reading or listening to music. Smoking is allowed in the lounge.
Toilets and Showers
The toilets and showers at Lucky Lake Hostel are located in a separate building to the cabin, caravan (trailer) and dorm accommodation. Our facilities are cleaned every day, with individual shower cubicles and free wonderfully everlasting hot water!
You can do your own laundry at the hostel. It's €3,50 for a wash and €4 for drying. We provide soap/washing detergent. There's free drying racks for use in case the sun is out!
Bikes and Kayaks
Lucky Lake is situated in a peaceful natural invironment, next to the Vinkeveense plassen, which is a large man-made lake. Water-related activities include swimming, kayakking, boating, fishing, sailing and scuba diving. This area is also idea for cyclists and walking-enthusiasts, with many bicycle and walking trails that will take you through the beautiful Dutch countryside.
You can rent your bike, kayak or stand up paddling board at reception. Prices are €1,50 per bike per hour and kayaks and paddle boards are €3 per person per hour.
